Since the first meeting in 1948, the Chapelwood United Methodist Church has grown to a congregation of over 7,000 strong. The church seeks to spread the word of Jesus Christ through members and ministries that encompass both adult and child-oriented programs, including SUMMIT mission trips for students.

SUMMIT, an annual mission trip, brings together students for a week of service, relationship building, and spiritual growth. The program features two sessions, one for middle school students and one for high school students, and depends largely on work-team adult volunteers. Each day, attendees participate in service education, bible study, and service to the community. High school students also participate in more advanced projects that may include painting, building accessibility modifications, and other repair projects.
